Discernment vs. Hypervigilance

Not everything you feel is intuition. Sometimes it’s survival.

Discernment is grounded. It notices misalignment and responds with clarity and boundaries, without panic.

Hypervigilance, on the other hand, is shaped by past wounds. It scans for danger everywhere, expects betrayal, and reacts before the present moment has a chance to speak for itself.

One is awareness. The other is protection learned through pain.

The work is learning the difference.

Discernment allows you to stay open while honoring your boundaries. Hypervigilance keeps you guarded, exhausted, and disconnected from what’s actually safe.

Healing isn’t about ignoring instincts, it’s about refining them. So you respond from grounded truth, not old wounds.

Through energy awareness practices like Reiki, I create space for the nervous system to soften, clarity to return, and discernment to become easier to trust.
